NaNoWriMo and The Otherworld

Another November NaNoWriMo down, and the 2nd victory for me in 2016. Interesting fact: each of the four cases of The AEON Files has been written during a NaNo event. And all four have been winners.

The next one, Camp NaNo, is in April, so I might get the fifth case going. It depends on what I’m working on when April comes around. Continue reading

72 Days…

Lots to talk about today, but let me start off with a few special announcements.

You might have noticed a few changes to the site recently. Obviously the layout is different, but that’s not all. There’s a new Home page with a few exclusive goodies, and even more to come. The navigation menu has changed so that my novels are now under their series names (The AEON Files and Dragon Diaries)  instead of a Books section. Continue reading

Dawn of The Bone Prophet

Yay! It’s (finally) Samhain!

You might know it better as Halloween or All Hallow’s Eve. No matter what you call it, it’s still the best day of the year for me. Samhain also happens to be my New Year’s Eve. So tomorrow, November first, be the very start of my new year. To celebrate the occasion, I’m having a sale on The AEON Files. You can get the whole series so far for just half the price. All you have to do is use these coupon codes: Continue reading

Paper, Demons, and… Birdhouses?

Another Monday has arrived. I can’t believe how fast the week has flown by. I’ve been so swamped with my work recently that I didn’t even watch the latest Dragonball Super episode yesterday. I know; that’s very odd of me. Don’t worry though, I got caught up on episode 63 this morning (Trunks vs jigsaw puzzle).

So what have I been working on to make me so busy?

There was the outline of The Bone Prophet (AEON book 4). By “outline” I mean I basically pre-write the whole book in a very detailed synopsis.  I can even tell you how many chapters there will be (19). I do all kinds of research, and even scribble down quotes I usually end up using. The research I did for this one includes a list of paranormal creatures as well as a list of powers. Seriously, you should see my notebook. Continue reading

Psychotic Muse Strikes Again

If you’re on my personal Facebook friends list, you might already know the news I’m about to break. Of course, that’s only if you were awake at 2am (UTC -6) this morning. Don’t worry, the news isn’t particularly bad.

Before I get into it, let me fill you in on a little something.

As some may know, The Demon Within started out as just a one-off with no plans for any sequels. Then I got the idea of putting werewolves in Ancient Egypt from a friend, and thus The Lycan Pharaoh was born. It was at this point that I started developing ideas for more and more books in what had now become The AEON Files. The number of books reached a pinnacle of fifteen. Continue reading

The Bone Prophet: A Glimpse into Book 4

I’m enjoying today’s creativity.
I just came up with the full name of the AEON acronym. It’s: Arcane Entities Opposing the Netherworld (you think it would have been obvious, really). Why didn’t I have it sooner? Honestly, I hadn’t really thought about it. I know I previously stated that AEON was once called SEANCE after the founding members of the agency. It was later renamed to AEON, which is in reference to a guardian spirit.
I also finally have a name for the Netherworld’s agency: Netherworld Elite Solders and Tactics; aka: NEST. These guys and gals are exactly like AEON Agents, but they work in opposition to AEON. Their goal is to take over the Mortal Realm. So far you’ve read about Taboo’s influence among the demon ranks, and her bounty on Jinx, and you know that there are agents of the Netherworld, but there was never a name for the group. Now there is.
And then there’s the Knights of the Sovereign Flame, which may or may not be explained in book 4 (It all depends on the mystery demon’s cooperation). What I can tell you is that there will be quite a few exotic Paras making an appearance in this case. But that’s what happens when Asia’s Team Sì (五,5) joins Team Beta in an investigation that has explosive beginnings in Tokyo’s Underground.

As for progress on the story itself, I’m still piecing together the rough outline. Ideas keep coming that throw off my timeline, so I’ve had to redo the whole thing a few times already. But the characters and locations are set, and I have a lot of research done. I hope to start actually writing the tale as part of NaNoWriMo this coming November, but I don’t want to make any guarantees. What I will say is that The Bone Prophet should become available early 2017.
